European Transport Forum 2010 - intro

European Transport Forum 2010 - intro

The future of European Transport is high on the agenda and it needs quite a bit of imagination to respond to the various challenges that are facing the transport sector. What will be the road ahead for transport policy over the next 20 years? Road Safety continues to be one of Europe's most serious public health challenges and affects everyone, whether they drive, walk or cycle.

With the European Road Safety Action Programme 2011-2020 now launched, the European Transport Forum offers key players in the transport sector a platform for debate.

The European Transport Forum is a platform for debate, open to anyone concerned with transport ranging from policy-makers at European, national and local level, to businesses, interest groups and journalists.

The European Road Safety Action Programme sets targets for reducing road deaths and serious injuries, and offers various policy suggestions for achieving them. But what is the right mix? How far should laws go in punishing bad driving? What limits should we put on alcohol, or on speed? How can technology help slow drivers or reduce the impact of any accidents? And what sort of campaigns work best with the public?

These questions, and many more, will be addressed at the European Transport Forum 2010 on October 5th! We look forward to welcoming you.
