We need a Single European Transport Area to fully achieve two founding freedoms of the European Union: the free movement of persons and goods. In his report "A New Strategy for the Single Market at the Service of Europe's Economy and Society", presented in May 2010, Professor Mario Monti strongly stresses this issue.
